City Rescue Mission

The City Rescue Mission of New Castle is one of the missions that Highland Church supports. The City Rescue Mission was founded in 1911 and has a rich evangelical history. Today, the Mission exists to meet the physical, emotional, relational and spiritual needs of hurting people in western Pennsylvania. As a Christian ministry, we stand uniquely apart from other social service agencies. Our services are provided based on need, rather than the ability to pay. All services are gifted to our neighbors in need that seek help for their physical and spiritual needs. Through faith-based programming, our guests and clients often experience an in-ward change resulting in many experiencing a renewed, changed life.

Help City Rescue Mission Feed
Hungry People This Thanksgiving

In Western Pennsylvania, many people less fortunate than us will go hungry this Thanksgiving. With your help, they will be able to receive all of the ingredients for a nice Thanksgiving dinner.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, The City Rescue Mission has a greater than usual need for donations. We are asking our congregation to join with us in helping the City Rescue Mission meet this need. Below is a chart with 5 successive Sundays listed and accompanying food items for that week.

With your help in sharing these blessings, we can help many people have a truly thankful Thanksgiving meal.

October 18 Rice and Pasta
October 25 Canned Soup and Crackers
November 1 Instant Potatoes and Instant Gravy
November 8 Pancake Mix and Syrup
November 15 Tea and Coffee
This is a chart of dates and food for each date for the City Rescue Mission food drive for Thanksgiving 2020.
