Pine Valley Camp

Pine Valley Bible Camp, located at 504 Chapel Drive, Ellwood City in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, is a family-run camp that offers abused and underprivileged children a safe haven.

The seeds of the camp were planted in 1959 when Rev. Tom Clyde pastor and evangelist went to Pine Valley. He and others knelt down and ask God to give them the property for bible conferences and camping. The next day the prayer was answered.

Pine Valley Bible Camp began in November 1961 to serve as a youth camp for the churches of Beaver and Lawrence Counties. Around 1988, that ministry ceased to exist and Pine Valley became a place for local churches to use as a rental facility.

In May of 1995, the Lord called Matthew and Susan Reichart to Pine Valley to begin The Nehemiah Project, its partner ministry of providing residential camping to Pittsburgh’s youth. The ministry has since expanded to include a variety of communities in and around Pittsburgh and even neighboring states (such as Ohio, Virginia, and New Jersey).

Each year, the camp budget must be raised. They receive a large percent from donations, a smaller part from retreats, and the rest from fees paid by campers. The cost to the children is minimal.

During their week at camp, the children, live in an exciting atmosphere where they experience competitive team rivalry, bonding, unity with their cabin group, and love for each other.
Camping activities include canoeing, fishing, mountain biking, climbing wall, crafts, waterslide, kayaking, track and field, and basketball.

Their main purpose is to introduce the campers to Jesus Christ in a way that relates to their needs. They want to make the Christian life alive, appealing and to allow the Lord to rebuild broken lives.

The Mission Committee recently visited Pine Valley Camp and Mr. Matt gave them a guided tour and lunch. It was good to see how our Mission funds are helping others. The hearts of inner-city children are being led to Christ.
