Pine Valley Camp

Pine Valley Bible Camp, nestled at 504 Chapel Drive in Ellwood City, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, is a cherished family-run sanctuary dedicated to offering a safe refuge for abused and underprivileged children.

The camp's story began in 1959 when Rev. Tom Clyde, a devoted pastor and evangelist, visited Pine Valley. Together with others, he earnestly prayed to God, asking for the property to be used for bible conferences and camping. Miraculously, their prayers were answered the very next day.

Established in November 1961, Pine Valley Bible Camp initially served as a youth camp for churches in Beaver and Lawrence Counties. By around 1988, this ministry had come to an end, and the camp transitioned into a rental facility for local churches.

In May 1995, Matthew and Susan Reichart felt a divine calling to revive Pine Valley through The Nehemiah Project. This partner ministry focused on providing residential camping experiences for Pittsburgh's youth. Over time, the ministry has grown to serve various communities in and around Pittsburgh, and even extends its outreach to neighboring states like Ohio, Virginia, and New Jersey.

Each year, the camp faces the challenge of raising its budget. A significant portion comes from generous donations, with additional funds from retreats and camper fees. The expense for the children remains minimal, ensuring accessibility.

Throughout their week at camp, children are immersed in a vibrant and exciting environment. They engage in competitive team activities, form strong bonds with their cabin mates, and experience a sense of unity and love. The array of camping activities includes canoeing, fishing, mountain biking, climbing walls, crafts, waterslides, kayaking, track and field, and basketball.

The camp’s primary mission is to introduce campers to Jesus Christ in ways that resonate with their personal needs. They strive to make the Christian life dynamic and appealing, and aim to assist the Lord in mending broken lives.

The Mission Committee recently had the pleasure of visiting Pine Valley Camp, where Mr. Matt provided a guided tour and lunch. It was heartening to see firsthand how our mission funds are making a positive impact, guiding the hearts of inner-city children towards Christ.
